New opportunities are presenting themselves within Northern Ireland such as political stability, new economic growth, infrastructure development and prosperity. These opportunities embody all features of life in Lurgan.

Originally a market town, Lurgan has a style and energy all of its own.  Its Georgian architecture, Brownlow family connection, fascinating heritage and pleasant ambiance, make the town unique. For four centuries the town has used its own fibre to build a worldwide network and reputation as the bedrock of the linen manufacturing industry.

The cornerstone of this reputation is one of the earliest, organised workforces in Ireland, with a strong work ethos and dedication to quality that has been passed down through generations. The workforce possesses an average age of 35.  Lurgan has a human resource that combines youthfulness, energy and maturity to create the perfect mix for locating business in the area.

The drive, enthusiasm and self sustaining nature of Lurgan is evidenced by the large number of independent businesses and retailers in the town, creating an environment where start up businesses will feel comfortable and larger companies achieve increased visibility.

The town also demonstrates cosmopolitan chic with a range of special and individual shops that still boast the personal touch.  This applies to fashion, health, furniture, shoes, beauty, gifts and specialist goods.  The shopping facilities compliment a town that has one of the largest parks in Ireland with a stunning lime tree mall and beautiful Coalbrookedale Fountain (one of only four in the world), a close knit community spirit and a strong arts movement.  This coupled with good access and car-parking makes Lurgan an excellent place to live and visit.

Lurgan is undergoing a major regeneration scheme designed to give the town an even more striking image and “state of the art” retail facilities.

Lurgan is an exciting historic town with a modern outlook.  It displays a distinctive style all of its own while also owning a positive vision of the future.

Lurgan is home to the Master McGrath community festival.  This is a four day long series of community arts and culture festival activities which takes place each August.  The festival has gone form strength to strength each year.  Highlights from the programme of activities are historical lecture series, sports, arts, children’s activities and music.
