DSD minister meets with Lurgan Forward - 29 November 2007

Social Development Minister, Margaret Ritchie, meets with Lurgan Forward to discuss regeneration issues and proposed Public Realm Scheme for Lurgan.

Social Development Minister, Margaret Ritchie, met with Lurgan Forward to discuss regeneration issues and the proposed Public Realm Scheme for Lurgan.

The Lurgan Forward delegation comprising of Charles Gardiner and Des Lavery, Chair and Vice Chair of Lurgan Forward, and with Noel Ferguson the Town Centre Manager presented the minister with regeneration proposals for Lurgan town centre including a major public realm scheme.

Commenting on the proposals the Minister said: “The proposed public realm scheme will enhance the environment in Lurgan Town Centre by improving its appearance and providing a safer environment for both residents and visitors. All of these improvements will transform Lurgan making it more appealing and enhancing the stability and sustainability of the town for shopping, tourism and leisure.”

The meeting is one of a series that Lurgan Forward has arranged with Assembly Ministers to highlight the town's needs.
